Kayak Starved Rock Campground

KAYAK RENTALS

SAT/SUN Holidays 10AM-6PM(last kayaks out at 3:30PM)

Memorial day thru labor day 7days a week 10AM-6PM

After labor day Sat/Sun 10-6

Offering high quality kayaks for rent near Chicago, guided kayak tours and primitive camping at locations in Morris(30minutes from Burb) and Starved Rock(1 hour from Burbs).  We have high end Perception Cove 145T tandem kayaks that hold up to 3 people if the 3rd person is 70lbs or less.  Our high quality single kayaks are Perception carolina 12ft & 14ft touring kayaks.

Guided Kayak Tours & Kayak Rentals

Guided kayak tours are offered every Saturday and Sunday and Holidays. Our guided kayak tours begin with a land based kayak instruction and safety kayak lesson and then you head out on the water with our guides in a small kayaking group to visit the beautiful sites along our sandy shores.
Kayak rentals are available 7days a week May 1-Labor Day.

Camping

Our primitive riverside camping is available along the Illinois River in Morris and Starved Rock.  We currently feature tent camping, pop up camping, tear drop camping at our Starved Rock location.  Our Morris location has primitive tent camping.  Kayak Starved Rock Campground is situated along the Illinois river and features sweeping views of Starved Rock State Park(Starved Rock location) and beautiful sandy beachfront at our Morris location.  Campers are welcomed to bring their own kayak for use on the river.  Everyone that launches from our locations must wear a PFD(life jacket).  If you are not a camper or a kayak renter and just want to enjoy the day kayaking from one of our locations there is a $10 launch fee.

We take pride in our product and quality is of the most importance. Locally grown produce is our specialty. We work with other local farmers to source only the best for the Illinois Valley. This includes but is not limited to: Sweetcorn, Tomatoes, Watermelons, Apples, Peaches, Blueberries, Lemons, Green Beans, Peppers, Onions, Potatoes, Beets, Carrots, Squash and other seasonal produce.

Do you need pickled garlic mushrooms? I sure do and our locals think so too. We have plenty of selection of jarred items to include salsas, jams, jellies, BBQ sauces, infused olive oils, honey, and salad dressings. There is almost to many options to mention. Come out and take a look for yourself.

Break Time

Enjoy a little relaxation on our outdoor patio.

Try out our new polytech tables and chairs while enjoying some farm picked roasted sweetcorn right out of our sweetcorn roaster. With the best buttered sweetcorn in one hand and a cold coke in the other, you can’t resist relaxing and enjoying downtown Utica.

Bridges Community Center-An Aging and Disability Resource Center

Peru and the lower 27 townships of LaSalle County, IL. Bridges is a senior community center that offers information, education, recreation programs and support for older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers. It is funded in part by the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County and United Way of Illinois Valley.

Mission

  • Promote personal and improve the self image of older people
  • Respond to the individuals needs and interests
  • Respond to individual difference such as lifestyle, ethnicity, values, experiences, needs, interests, abilities, skills, age and health status.

Bridges History

Bridges Community Center; a program of Alternatives opened its doors in 2003 under an amendment to the Older Americans Act of 1965. the act is a Federal law created to help older Americans live in their homes with safety and dignity as long as possible with appropriate services and support. We are part of a vast, national network of services and programs to protect the rights and support the needs of older Americans.

Hours of Operation

Open 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Friday

Our office is closed all major holidays, including Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day.
