Illinois River Flooding Information-UPDATE

 

5/5/17 9:15 a.m. Village of North Utica Code Red

The Village of North Utica would like to provide an update regarding the potential for Illinois River Flooding. Recent River projections provided by the Army Corp of Engineers indicates the Illinois River has crested and water levels are currently receding.  The National Weather Service forecast includes minimal rain amounts  over the next 5-7 days and the river should continue to recede. Although the Illinois River remains at elevated levels, the flooding potential within the Village has passed for this weather event.  This will be the Final Code Red for this event but if conditions change, future Code Reds will be issued. Thank you for continued vigilance and for keeping safe.

The Village of North Utica would like to provide this special update regarding the potential for Illinois River Flooding. The Army Corp of Engineer’s latest crest elevation projection was decreased again from yesterday morning’s update. It is still indicated that the river will crest on Tuesday, May 2nd.  With additional rain that fell today and forecast for tonight levels may change and we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates via Code Red and on our website at www.utica-il.gov. The Village of North Utica would like to provide this special update regarding the potential for Illinois River Flooding. The Army Corp of Engineer’s latest projection this morning could still potentially cause flooding impacts into first floors of some low lying structures or affect access to low-lying areas.  It is still anticipated that the river will crest on Tuesday, May 2nd.  The Village will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates via Code Red and on our website at www.utica-il.gov. The Village of North Utica would like to provide this special update regarding the potential for Illinois River Flooding. The Army Corp of Engineers has released their latest projection showing the river will crest on Tuesday, May 2nd at an elevation of approximately 5 1/2 feet below what was published yesterday afternoon.  This current projected elevation could still potentially cause flooding impacts into first floors of some low lying structures.  The Village will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates via Code Red and on our website at www.utica-il.gov. 4/29/17 8 a.m. Village of North Utica Press Release

The Village of North Utica would like to make this special statement regarding the potential for Illinois River and Clark Run Creek flooding. Due to the information we continue to receive, along with the uncertainty of the upcoming weather conditions, there will be an emergency meeting of the Village Board of Trustees at 11:30am today, Saturday April 29, 2017, to discuss potential future flood impacts to the Village of North Utica. Those residents and businesses located in areas south of I&M Canal to the Illinois River as well as anyone residing near Clark Run Creek are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting to get more information. The meeting will take place at the Village Hall located at 801 S. Clark Street.

Thank you
