LA SALLE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PREPARES
FOR 48TH ANNUAL BURGOO FESTIVAL OCTOBER 7 & 8
The LaSalle County Historical Society’s Annual Burgoo Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8, in the quaint village of North Utica, Illinois. This year marks the 48th anniversary of this event making it one of the largest, long-running festivals in the State of Illinois. The festival’s signature dish is Burgoo Stew, a pioneer dish consisting of beef, chicken, pork and vegetables, which is cooked over an open fire throughout the night and served to festival attendees. Local chef Mike Ellerbrock returns as this year’s Burgoo Meister.
The festival begins on Saturday, at 11 a.m., when the Canal Market opens featuring over 100 vendors. An Antique Car Show along with live music runs from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The Festival resumes on Sunday when 375 plus vendors line the streets of Utica from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 pm. Burgoo Stew and other food items will be available as well as live music featuring RFD TV stars Wilderness Trail.
